£40 Fee - Is it per invoice?

Hi,

We have a customer with three different outstanding invoices, totalling less than £1,000. They are all a slightly different number of days overdue on their payments, and the percentage means we can only charge a few pence a day for each invoice.

I am aware of the statutory recovery fee of £40 in our case, but I am wondering whether this is applicable for each invoice or the whole sum together....???

We had verbally agreed terms of 30 days when we started work with them over 18 months ago, which they normally stuck to with a few exceptions that we overlooked. We have actually now refused the customer any further goods and parted ways with them due to the way we had been treated, so there is no relationship left to try and salvage.

It just feels like i'm spending forever trying to work this out and get things sorted hence joining you guys for some support. I'm not particularly bright where maths is concerned hence why i've spent so much time trying to make sure I get it right..and naturally without sounding greedy £40 per late payment sounds more attractive to me than £40 for all three invoices...

Thanks,

Tasha

Hi Tasha,

Yes each invoice is a separate debt and each invoice is entitles you to a separate compensation claim.

So in your case you are due 3 lots of £40.
