Extortion Claims

I have been in a battle with a client trying to get them to pay for some time. I used the Act and informed them of the interest and compensation. The reply I got back was “we choose not to pay your compensation”
I resonded by saying that it was an Act of parliament, that was enforceable by law, and that their comment held no merit. They have now informed me they are contacting a solicitor as I am trying to extort money from them.

Was I correct in saying it was enforceable by law or do I need to back track a little?

Hello Gary

Tha Act is legislation that was introduced in 1998 then ammended in 2002 . Changes to improve the legislation will be introduced before March 2013.

Interest and compensation are payable by law. It is up to you decide whether or not to enforce this right.

Your clients Solicitor should inform them of that fact.

Hi Gary, a good tactic to employ is put the pay on time logo on any correspondence you send to them and also send them a link to this site. It helped me with my case.
