Sorry your question was not answered. The users guide has the answer to most questions and is the best place to start when looking for answers. In your original question. If the client has made a partial payment before you decide to make a claim, then I would only make claim on the balance. In the post you mentioned, it assumes that a claim has already been made and the client made a partial payment after that.
