Hi there

I have a contract with a Public Authority to do occasional freelance work. This states that I should be paid within 30 days from the date I invoice them for services. Does this count as a business to business transaction even if I am not set up as a company? They are always late with payment, particularly reimbursement of travel expenses.

Hello Laura
Are you set up as a self employed freelancer? If so then yes the legislation does and you can claim interest and compensation. Public authorities should pay within 30 days unless a different payment period has been expressly agreed.
