On your site you say you ought not to *invoice* for late payment charges and interest but to set it out in writing and I have done this. However, elsewhere (Business Link) I have read that an invoice for these should be provided. Please could you advise?

Can I charge for late payments where the payment has been settled late (after the settlement date and where an indication that late payment charges may be applied).

Hello Richard
The users guide states make a claim for interest. The claim must include the information that would be on a standard invoice such as invoice number, job description etc. The copy on this letter can be used as a guide.

Yes you can claim interest and compensation on invoices that have been paid, but were paid late going back 6 years retrospectively.

Before doing so, you should read through this part of the users guide
