Date a debt arises....

Hi,
I have recently supplied goods to a business customer on the basis that payment is due on receipt of goods and or invoice whichever is later. The goods were supplied on the 27/10/2011 and the invoice was sent on 28/10/2011.

In the period since no issues of any sort have been raised regaring the goods supplied.

My reading of the Late Payment Legislation suggests to me that the debt technically arises from 31 October 2011. In preparing the claim I intend allowing a few days to allow for postal delay and invoice processing so will treat 7 November 2011 as the date the debt arises.

Does this approach appear to be reasonable? I intend sending a Late Payment Claim later at the earliest opportunity so any comment(s) would be appreciated.

Thanks

Leigh

Hello Leigh

Sounds very fair to me.

I hope they appreciate that you have allowed time for receipt and processing of the invoice!

Regards

David
