we are trying to charge retrospectively applied late payment interest and compensation with a client who is a solicitor.

They state there is no provision in the act to do so. Whilst I have see on your website & Business Link user guide that we can. Is there anything such as case law we can quote to influence them to pay before having to go to court?

Hello Jenny
The six year period comes from the limitations act 1980 which provides timescales inside which action may be taken by issuing a claim form.

Here is the act on the OPSI website

I found this website which has a list of free case law resources on the web

Regards

David
