Client agrees part payment of CCJ summons, but not court fees and interest

I have issued a small claims summons to a client who owes approx £13.5k from April/May. Including court fees (£210) and interest (approx £500), the sum claimed is £14.2k. They've not disputed monies are owed. In fact, via the N9A form, they've accepted they owe the money stated on the invoice. No mention of interest / court fees.

On the basis that they accept the full invoice value is due, wouldn't a court simply follow through that the fees and interest are payable?

The client wants a meeting late next week. I have warned them that I intend to decline their N9A offer and seek full payment. Surely that wouldn't even need a hearing if the client accepts the full invoice value is due?

So the client admits the amount is owed and overdue, but they don't want to pay the court costs, collection costs and interest?

The way we see it you have three options. Agree to write off the costs, offer to split the difference or push for full payment.

The fact they have admitted the amount is owed makes it virtually impossible for them to argue payment of court costs, but does leave some leeway with regards to costs and interest. Especially if you weren't completely clear on payment terms at the start of the relationship.

If you were our client, we would suggest you tell them you will accept 50% of the fees in addition to the original amount or you will pursue them for the full balance via the courts.
