Legality of e-billing

I am trying to introduce an e-billing system as a way of improving cash-flow, however I am meeting resistance within our own business. The feeling is that an electronic invoice is not in someway legally binding and the only way it can be legal is by printing and posting. I am sure this is incorrect but I cannot find any link or source that can definitely verify this. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hello Neil

There is a section on electronic invoicing in the credit management advice section .

HM Revenue and Customs have a guide on electronic invoicing which you should find useful. The guide can also be downloaded as a PDF file.

I hope this helps.

Hi

Go to the HMRDC gov tax web site and there is a fully dedicated section to your cause...

customs.hmrc.gov.uk/channelsPortalWebApp/channelsPortalWebApp.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=pageVAT_ShowContent&id=HMCE_PROD_010205&propertyType=document

Good Luck
Dave
