No payment of invoices

Hope that someone can help me. I have submitted invoices to a company whose terms of payment is 7 days from job being done. I have submitted the invoices later than 7 days but within a month and the company are now saying that the invoices will not be paid.
Can they do this?
We have not signed an agreement with them but they have issued us with a contractor specification where it details this 7 day rule.
The contractor specification was also issued under a different name as the company have recently had a change of name. How do we stand to get our invoices paid?

They can try, but these kind of tricks are not considered a legitimate reason for non payment and if it ended up in court we do not imagine a Judge would look kindly on these kind of antics...

As long as the Limited company registration number has remained the same then nothing apart from the name has changed. It will not imapct your right to payment.

If the company was previously known as Some Co Ltd Reg number 00000011.

But it is now known as Some New Co Ltd Reg Number 00000011 then you are OK.

If however the name and company number has changed then it is an entirely new company that you will have technically no legal claim over.
